Tourmalinated Quartz is a Crystal Quartz that has formed together with Black Tourmaline, with the Tourmaline penetrating the Quartz when the Quartz was still liquid. As the Quartz cooled, and solidified, it encapsulated the Tourmaline. and creating the description ‘tourmalinated’.
