Any colored tungsten carbide ring other than its natural silver color, is achieved through a process called ion plating or PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition). This is true for all tungsten jewelry in the world. PVD is a process by which a surface is bombarded with atomic sized energetic particles in a vacuum to deposit a hard coating of compound materials that results in the desired color. The process is vastly superior to traditional "wet" plating methods (like electroplating) due to its increased bonding strength. These rings use the PVD process that occurs at a molecular level and is thus more durable than other colorization methods. Tungsten rings also offer a variety of surface textures achieved through different techniques. Polishing using diamond paste creates a high-polish, mirror-like finish. Textured finishes like satin, brushed, or matte are achieved by scuffing the surface with diamond-coated tools or wheels.  Furthermore, Tungsten is a 9 on the MOH's hardness scale, second only to Diamonds. Tungsten is the hardest metal in the world and therefore was initially used in industrial applications because of it's strength and hardness.
